Came across an interesting article about the Italian government using Facebook (gotta love social networking) to make a mafia arrest. Apparently he was responsible for killing a rival mafia guy with a portable rocket launcher.

That is one reason I am nervous about leaving post. I haven’t heard of anyone in the military getting caught up with the mafia, but it is still there in the back of my mind. Is it a big issue down there in Salerno?

Invisibly, yes. It has lots of influence, but its usually something we’re completely unaware of. Its actually rarely spoken of, because it is such a big deal that is not a joke like it might be back home.

It is usually not at the front of my mind when we leave base, but we hear stories so I cannot really forget that they are here. Glad to hear that it is not a problem down there
