  • WHY ITALY?

Why Italy, you ask?

Much like the Italians have for most of what they do, God gave us a passion for this country. Years ago, we came on a short term trip called a summer project. We spent just over a month meeting students and sharing the hope of the gospel. When we left to return home, it seemed as if a part of our hearts remained in Italy.

Now, perhaps the more difficult question hasn’t been answered. Why go to a country that is saturated with Christianity? Its a longer discussion, but simply put… it used to be that way. Now, only 2% of the population is involved in any form of Christian church. And worse, less than 1% of young peoples are involved. This means that tomorrows leaders are not going to make things better.

From the beginning, God has designed his kingdom to advance by people going. Some are called to go to their own city, others somewhere else in their own country, and others to go to a new country. All with the intention of sharing a message of salvation for all peoples, everywhere. So, God has asked us all to be a goers. And for us, to go to a Italy.

A bit about Salerno

Salerno, Italy

Salerno is nestled in the south west coast of Italy, and is home to over 150,000 Italian nationals.  It’s about 45 minutes south of tourism, so you rarely meet anybody from the west (which is something we love).

We will be working on a university in Fisciano (a nearby city), which has nearly 40,000 students.  College students in Italy are the best of the best, and are without a doubt tomorrows leaders of Italy. Our hope is that by working with such influential Italians, we will help reach the country for Christ.  And with Italy having such a great influence on the rest of the globe, we can only pray to see God move over the years to reach the world through our investment in Salerno.
